This week's song is Hey Kristina by All Caps.
I picked it because this weekend I was having difficulting motivating myself to write the scene I'm currently on, and this is one of my favourites from the album that helped big time (Bmin/E).

My New Novel
Okay, so last night, I started a new novel, which I will be writing alongside Suns and Stars, until I finish Suns and Stars, which will hopefully be by New Year. It is called Firework. This is the blurb:
Will is a 15 year old schoolboy. Bullied by the so-called cool kids for being weird, struggles with his schoolwork and rejection by his crush makes Will feel that his whole life is utterly pointless. He is bitten, and becomes a vampire. Eventually, he realises that he is worth it and begins to plot his revenge...
It is told in first person from Will's POV and I am hoping that it'll be full of dark humour, while still being lighthearted in parts. I am hoping that it'll be finished, going by how long I've been writing this version of Suns and Stars, by May, which would be pretty good timing, as I finish uni in April and go back to uni in October, so I could hopefully have written the second draft of Suns and Stars, and maybe even started the second draft of this by the time I go back. But we'll see. Wish me luck.

Music Monday: 22nd November 2010
This week's song is Love Story by Taylor Swift.
It's Suns and Stars' overall theme tune, not because my story bears any resemblance to Romeo & Juliet, but because my story features forbidden love and a dad who doesn't want his daughter going out with the guy she loves and some of the lines fit perfectly with some scenes. And there are two versions that really stand out when it comes to Suns and Stars - this version, which fits Dulcie's POV, and Dave Days' (an amazing guy I discovered on YouTube) version, which fits Tristan's POV. Yay for versions of songs in different gender POVs!

This week's song is Worlds Apart by Twenty Twenty.
I picked it because it is Tristan's and Dulcie's couple theme tune. It's their theme tune because it fits the whole thing of how they are different - Tristan is human, Dulcie is fae - and yet, no matter what, even though they've been through so much crap, they will be there for each other. Because they love each so much. Though it does take them a long time to realise that, but never mind.

NaNo Update
Okay, so I've given up on NaNo. Because it was too much stress, what with uni and everything. So.. here are my new plans.
- Finish the first draft of Suns and Stars by New Year
- Finish the first draft of Fall by New Year
- Start thinking about my next novel.

Music Monday: 8th November 2010
This week's song is Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship.
The reason I picked it is because the whole album, Hot Mess, has been helping me loads when it comes to motivation and writing quickly, and this is one of my favourite tracks on it. Plus, it's the kind of song that makes me want to get up and dance, which is perfect for writing when I'm feeling kind of tired.

Music Monday: 1st November 2010
It's NaNo, but I'm still going to blog. :) Just don't expect a lot of posts. Anyway...
My song of the week is The NaNoWriMo Song by All Caps.
The reason why it's my song of the week is very simple. It totally fits my life for the next few weeks!

My NaNo!
Yep, NaNoWriMo starts on Monday, which means that it's about time I told you about it. It is called Fall and here is my blurb:
October 2010. A new chapter in Natalie's life. University. Within two weeks of starting, she meets Caleb. Instantly, she fancies him and as well as trying to do as well as she can in uni, she tries her hardest to pluck up the courage to ask him out. But will she ever do it? Only time will tell...
It sounds cliche, I know, but hopefully it won't be when it's finished. I'm hoping to write a cute and quirky romantic comedy, with a few twisted motivations. It's inspired by my crush at uni - although there aren't any twisted motivations there - so I'm bound to come up with a few ideas and do okay writing it!
Unfortunatly, Suns and Stars is on hold, due to writer's block, but I'm hoping to finish both of these by the end of the year and start editing them early next year!

Music Monday: 25th October 2010
So, this is the start of Music Mondays. Every week, I'll be posting a song that fits my writing since the last MM post, whether it's a theme tune, inspiring song... My song of the week.
So, this week that song is Sugar Rush by Cash Cash.
The reason I picked this song is because it's Natalie's, the FMC from my NaNo Fall (more about that later this week), love theme. She thinks Caleb, the MMC, is totally adorable, and he gives her "one big sugar rush" every she sees him.Just switch the genders in the song around, and it fits. I can also see her listening to it and instantly thinking of him, which makes it even more fitting.

Real Life and Writing
Okay, so this is about how real life can affect or inspire your writing. I suffer from depression, so of course, if I'm suffering from a spell, it can affect my writing. In a bad way. But at the moment, there is something that makes me so ridiculously happy that I feel all motivated and good. Well, someone. A cute boy from uni. Seriously. It is unbelivable how happy talking, thinking, about him makes me right now. But guess what? I don't really care to be honest. 'Cause he's adorable. And this is a good thing because when I'm happy I write better. And, who knows, this crush could be the source of inspiration for a future project (not my NaNo, I'll talk about that next week)! So an added bonus there.
My last crush was... not very good. It ended up making me really depressed. But in a weird sort of way, the heartbreak was a good thing. It has provided a lot of inspiration for when I write about unrequited love. I still wish we'd got together, though.
Has anyone else been inspired by something that's happened to them? How?
