Music Monday: 13th May 2013

This week's song is God Only Knows by The Beach Boys.

I picked it because this weekend I hit 10K on Holiday Romance and this album - Pet Sounds - was what I was listening to when I did it. Not only is this song on this album, but it is also one of my favourite love songs ever and it's on the playlist for this WIP. Surely, it should be obvious why I picked it, right?

This week's song is Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.

I picked it because this weekend I was writing the scene where Audrey, the love interest Owain, and her parents travel to Rome, and this is the song that I was listening to all the way through writing it. Not only it is a total awesome 60s song, it is totally summery and really good to write to!

This week's song is I've Just Seen A Face by The Beatles, as sung by Jim Sturgess in the film Across The Universe.

I picked it because this week, I'm going to start a new WIP - code name #HolidayRomance - and this is the first song on the playlist. This playlist is going to be made up entirely of 60s songs - both orginals and covers - because that is the music that the FMC and narrator, Audrey, loves that period a ridiculous amount. This song is absolutely perfect for when she meets the MMC, Owain, both in terms of the lyrics and the mood of this version.

I picked because I'm currently plotting two projects, one of which is a music based novel called Lost in Stereo, and this song is first on the playlist! And the video is bloody brilliant. That is all.

Hello!

Firstly, a quick update on word count stuff: I'm aiming for 18,000 words on Ollie for Camp WriMo now, instead of 19,000, which is 600 words a day minimum.

Now to business.

This week's song is Lily's Theme by Alexandre Desplat from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 soundtrack.

I picked it because the album is my current writing music, and this piece is such a chilling and yet amazingly wonderful start to the movie and the album. And it's Harry Potter. Need I say more?

So I was supposed to do this on Monday, but I forgot to do it until now.

Anyway.

First part of the update: Stupid Cupid

I finished it, and it is out in the world after an editor requested it thanks to a Twitter pitch contest. This is basically how I feel about it right now:

Now for my current project: Ollie, which is basically a Middle Grade retelling of Oliver Twist by the wonderful Charles Dickens. I'm doing it for April Camp WriMo and I'm currently aiming for 19,000 words. Which I think I can do, but we shall see.

I picked it because in the last week, I came up with a new ending for Stupid Cupid and as soon as I heard this the first time after that (while listening to Up All Night!), I realised that this song fitted a huge part of it so, so much that I put it on the playlist.

Also, there is a little something going on with this project which I shall not reveal just yet... You'll just have to wait.
